Faith is an important part of my life, but for me it has never been something that belongs only to Sunday morning.
It influences the way I try to approach family, business, leadership, service, relationships, and the responsibility I have to set an example for my daughter.
Indian Rocks Church in Largo has become an important part of that story for our family.
My daughter and I have had the opportunity to worship, serve, meet people, and grow through a church community that places a strong emphasis on families, faith, and putting belief into action.
For me, being part of Indian Rocks is not about adding another title to a biography. It is about belonging to a church family and finding practical ways to serve.
Indian Rocks Church traces its history to 1958, when nine families began a church with a vision to reach Pinellas County. Today, the church continues to describe its mission around helping families discover and pursue God’s design.
That emphasis on family is one of the reasons the church has been meaningful to me.
I am a father first. Much of the way I make decisions – professionally, personally, and in the community – is shaped by the example I want my daughter to see.
Church gives us another place to experience that together: worship, service, relationships, learning, and the simple routine of showing up for other people.
Indian Rocks Church publicly describes itself as a place where people can worship, connect, grow, and serve. The church offers ministries and events for families throughout the year, including opportunities for people to discover ways to become involved through Serve Teams and other ministries.
That sense of participation matters to me.
A church becomes a community when people are willing to know one another, help one another, and contribute rather than simply attend.
One of the things I value most is being able to serve alongside my daughter.
We have served as greeters, welcoming people as they arrive and helping create the kind of environment where a family, visitor, or longtime member can feel noticed and welcome.
Greeting may seem like a small role, but I have learned that small acts often matter more than people realize.
A smile, a welcome, helping somebody find where they are going, or simply taking the time to acknowledge another person can change the way someone experiences a place.
It is also a good reminder for both of us that service does not always need to be complicated. Sometimes it starts by being present and being willing to help.
My faith influences the way I think about service in the wider community as well.
Whether I am working through Rotary, a business association, a chamber of commerce, a nonprofit, a community event, or simply helping somebody who needs a connection or resource, I believe leadership should include service.
Those worlds are not separate for me.
Church reminds me that success is not measured only by business growth, titles, or how busy a calendar becomes. There is also a responsibility to use the time, relationships, experience, and opportunities we have been given to help other people.

Indian Rocks has deep roots in Largo and Pinellas County. The church’s public history describes a congregation that began with nine families in 1958 and grew into a large church community with ministries serving families, children, students, adults, and the wider community.
The church also founded Indian Rocks Christian School, creating another connection between faith, family, education, and community life.
That broader community presence is meaningful to me because many of the same families, businesses, students, volunteers, and community leaders cross paths in different parts of life throughout Pinellas County.
One of the greatest responsibilities in my life is being a father.
I want my daughter to understand that faith is not simply something we say we believe. It should influence the way we treat people, the way we serve, the decisions we make, and the kind of person we become.
That is one reason I value experiences where we can participate together instead of simply talking about them.
Church, volunteering, school, community events, business activities, and the many places she has accompanied me over the years all create opportunities to learn through experience.
I do not expect perfection from myself or from her. I do believe in continuing to learn, continuing to serve, and trying to become better than we were yesterday.

Faith and family are part of that story.
Indian Rocks Church is part of that story too.
I am grateful for the people who have welcomed our family, the opportunities we have had to serve, and the reminder that every area of life should ultimately be grounded in something larger than ourselves.
