Rotary is one of the places where business relationships, community service, leadership, friendship, and giving back all come together for me.
I serve as President of the Belleair Rotary Club for the 2026-2027 Rotary year, working alongside an engaged Board of Directors and club members who believe in Rotary’s simple but powerful motto: Service Above Self.
For me, Rotary is not about holding a title. It is about showing up, building relationships, supporting our community, creating opportunities for others to serve, and making sure the club is stronger because we were willing to contribute our time and energy.
I have always believed that strong communities are built by people who are willing to participate in them. Rotary creates a place where business owners, professionals, retirees, educators, volunteers, and community leaders can sit at the same table and work toward something larger than themselves.
The relationships are important. The fellowship is important. But the purpose behind those relationships is what makes Rotary different. We come together so we can serve.
That can mean supporting a local nonprofit, helping a student develop leadership skills, recognizing first responders, volunteering at a community project, raising funds for a cause, or simply being there when somebody needs help.
Belleair Rotary serves a local community, but we are part of Rotary District 6950 and Rotary International.
That creates an unusual combination: a club can be deeply local while also being connected to Rotarians and service efforts around the world.
Our local relationships extend throughout Belleair, Belleair Bluffs, Largo, Clearwater, the Gulf Beaches, and Pinellas County. Those relationships with businesses, schools, nonprofits, first responders, civic organizations, and other Rotary clubs make it possible to do more together than any one person or organization could do alone.
Rotary’s motto, Service Above Self, is easy to repeat. Living it requires action.
The Belleair Rotary Club supports local projects and partnerships throughout Belleair and the surrounding Pinellas County communities. The club’s official website highlights work involving literacy, neighborhood and coastal cleanup efforts, seniors, first responders, youth programs, scholarships, mentoring, nonprofit partnerships, and other volunteer initiatives.
I want our club to continue looking for practical ways to serve locally while remembering that Rotary also connects us to a global network of people committed to making a difference.
Membership growth is one of my priorities because Rotary can only serve at the level our members are willing and able to participate.
But I do not believe membership should be treated as a numbers contest.
The goal is to bring good people into the club, help them build relationships, introduce them to Rotary’s opportunities, and give them reasons to become involved.
A successful new member should not simply appear on a roster. They should eventually feel like they are part of the Rotary family.
One of the parts of Rotary that means the most to me is the opportunity to invest in young people.
Rotary youth programs such as Interact and RYLA give students the opportunity to practice leadership, organize service projects, build confidence, work as a team, and understand that leadership includes responsibility to others.
Our club’s support of youth leadership is especially meaningful to me as a father. Young people learn a great deal from what adults tell them, but they learn even more from what they see us do. Service, responsibility, leadership, and community involvement become more meaningful when young people experience them firsthand.
People have more demands on their time than ever before. If we ask someone to attend a Rotary meeting, I believe we should respect that time.
That means creating an environment where members can enjoy fellowship, hear from worthwhile speakers, learn what is happening in the community, connect with one another, and leave feeling that the time was well spent.
During my presidency, I want the club to continue bringing in speakers and guests from business, nonprofits, government, community organizations, and other areas that give our members useful information and stronger connections to the community around us.

The tools continue changing. Our responsibility is to understand those changes and help our customers use them effectively.
I may serve as President, but the club succeeds because of the people around me.
Our Board of Directors, committee leaders, members, volunteers, speakers, community partners, and supporters all contribute something different.
One of the responsibilities of leadership is recognizing those strengths and helping people use them.
I believe the best leaders do not try to become the center of everything. They build a team that can accomplish more together.
At the end of the 2026-2027 Rotary year, I want to be able to look back and see more than a list of meetings and events.
I want to see a stronger club.
More engaged members. More relationships. More service. More young people exposed to leadership. More partnerships with the organizations around us. More people who understand what Rotary actually does.
If we accomplish those things, the membership numbers and community impact will follow.
Every Rotary president inherits a club with its own history, traditions, strengths, and opportunities. My responsibility is to respect what has been built while helping the club continue moving forward.
For the 2026-2027 year, several priorities are especially important to me:
Grow membership while protecting the welcoming culture of the club.
Create meetings and programs that members genuinely look forward to attending.
Bring in strong speakers and community leaders who educate, inspire, and connect our members.
Expand opportunities for hands-on community service.
Strengthen partnerships with local businesses, nonprofits, schools, and community organizations.
Support youth leadership through Interact, RYLA, mentoring, and Rotary programs.
Make it easier for new members to become involved, build relationships, and find meaningful ways to serve.
At the beginning of the Rotary year, the club had 20 members. By August 2026, membership had grown to 28, with a goal of reaching 35 during the year. Growth matters, but the number only matters if those members are engaged, connected, and finding value in Rotary.
